Research shows that education research, promotion of science in education and children with special needs are among the few critical areas that remain ignored in budget financing, despite political and national commitment. IID, in collaboration with Actionaid, conducted a policy audit of the national education budget. The findings were shared in a roundtable on 18th January, 2014 at Bangladesh Economic Society Auditorium, jointly organized by IID, Actionaid and Citizens Solidarity.
Speakers emphasized on financing in critical micro areas and on the implementation of the existing education budget rather than just demanding for mere increase in total budget. Other highlighted issues in the open floor discussion included stressing on vocational education, changing of mentally of the teachers, mainstreaming Kowmi madrasa education etc.
