About 99 percent of the library users find the role of libraries to be essential for the society, though only 6 percent people uses the benefits—reveals a nationwide survey.
At the same time, around 70 per cent female library users think that libraries have helped them in daily decision making and improved their skills that enhanced their job opportunities.
The findings came out of an IID study, commissioned jointly by the British Council, the Government of Bangladesh, BRAC and the Bengal Foundation. ‘The Library Landscape Assessment of Bangladesh’ is the most comprehensive and in-depth study of library and information services ever undertaken in Bangladesh.
