High level representatives from government and civil society attended this open-for-public online seminar to brainstorm way forwards for right to information campaign.
Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu commented, “Establishment of right to information is a must for strengthening democracy, as it is a birth-right”.
The highlighted issues in the seminar were promoting transparency and accountability through RTI, mainstreaming RTI, RTI campaign using mass media and ICT, revising the curriculum at different education levels for inclusion of RTI and suggestions based on prior experience of working with RTI.
The e-seminar took place during 1-4 October 2015 and was arranged jointly by IID and Information Commission on the occasion of Right to Know day 2015. It was hosted on IID’s online opinion portal www.obhimat.com/rtk15, where detailed comments by the participants can be found.
Eminent personalities including the information minister, chief information commissioner, academicians, RTI activists joined in the seminar with suggestions on ongoing and future campaign of RTI in Bangladesh.
