Can mobile money take the next big step and convince the big institutes to use mobile money for organizational transactions? IID study seeks to find that.
IID has partnered with BRAC to carry out a process analysis of the current money transfers by BRAC in 6 of its programmes. The feasibility study will assess the use mobile banking by institutions through measuring the current costs incurred in terms of labour, charges and time involved. In addition, the study is also mapping the expenditure pattern at the individual and household levels to identify commercial activities that can be viably brought under mobile banking and bypass the requirement of cash withdrawals involving an intermediary (agent). Initiated in September 2015, the study entails a combination of KII, FGD, field survey and desk research.
