The road to 2030: Why we need sustainable production?

The world’s production and consumption patterns have significantly contributed to climate change and depleted precious resources.

The adverse effects of climate change are evident in natural disasters at home and abroad, and, most alarmingly for us, Bangladesh now ranks first as the nation most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Even our food security will be under threat if we don’t act now.

As the population and economy expand further, more and more strain is put upon our limited resources. Demand for gas has already far exceeded gas supply and forecasts tell us that even our reserves that have not yet been tapped into are not enough to meet future needs.

Although Bangladesh has performed extremely well in terms of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), now it is time to think about sustaining, for future generations, the gains of the development and progress we have made so far. Sustainable Development Goals 2030 build on MDGs to put countries on a path to building a better world for many generations to come.
